Lean Six Sigma

An effective and structured approach to problem-solving and continuous improvements

What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma is a combination of the two methods Lean and Six Sigma, which together provide a structured and data-driven approach to problem-solving.

Although Lean and Six Sigma essentially have two different approaches to problem-solving, both methods fundamentally have the same goal. They both focus on creating value for the customer, and achieving high quality and efficiency in business processes.

DMAIC

Lean primarily focuses on reducing lead times and achieving better flow by eliminating waste and non-value-adding elements in all business processes.

Six Sigma focuses on quality and works with data, statistics, and measurements to analyse problems and identify the underlying causes of variations in quality.

This makes Six Sigma particularly useful when organisations experience recurring problems with variations in quality, which cannot be immediately explained. By delving into the processes, you can find the underlying causes and thereby remove the root of the problems. In this way, a lasting improvement in quality is achieved, which also means increased value for the customer.

Lean Six Sigma definition:

“Lean Six Sigma focuses on creating value for the customer, achieving the highest quality, and implementing the most efficient processes for the company.”
