Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt
Build upon your Black Belt skills and become a sought-after Lean Six Sigma expert
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt training
The Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt training is an extension to the Black Belt training, not only providing you with new skills but also preparing you to assume an expert role, capable of carrying out successful projects with measurable results for your business.
You will be able to both solve critical and complex quality challenges and take on a strategic leadership role in the organisation.
There are two archetypal Master Black Belt profiles:
- The specialist who has significant expertise in conducting Lean Six Sigma projects.
- The organisational leader, who functions as part of the management level with a focus on organisational implementation and operation.
Who is the course intended for?
The typical Master Black Belt student often has worked as a Black Belt for some years, accruing solid experience in developing, leading, and carrying out complex, interdisciplinary and cross-organisational DMAIC projects.
With this extension, competencies are bolstered, and further emphasis is placed on organisational and strategic leadership skills. You naturally become part of the management level with a focus on organisational implementation and operation. Additionally, you will play a central role in the training of other employees in the method e.g., teaching, training and coaching new Green Belts and Black Belts.
Content of the Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt training
Duration: Typically 9-11 days (planned individually)
At eye4improve, we tailor our Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt education to each candidate and their company/organisation. There can be significant differences in role distribution and responsibilities from one candidate to another. Therefore, we believe it makes sense to adapt the content of the education to each student, enabling the best possible competency development according to their already gained experiences.
We thus offer a course that is tailored to your needs. We analyse your experiences and consider your career goals when we organise the course, so it can develop and strengthen you, while also meeting the highest standards for certification.
The education period typically extends over 1-2 years. The number of physical teaching days will vary according to each candidate, but will amount to about 9-11 sessions. In addition, there will be several practical tasks that you must simultaneously perform in your organisation. These tasks will both help to develop your coaching skills and ensure that you acquire the necessary skills described in the education standards.
You conclude the course with a written project assignment, and a verbal defence of this. The assignment should be completed a maximum of 2 years after the start of the course.
The Practical
Teaching: Approximately 9-11 days of physical teaching (planned individually)
Duration: The course typically extends over 1-2 years, during which you will carry out a series of practical tasks in your own organisation to acquire the right skills to be certified.
Teaching method: The teaching takes place as 1:1 either physically or online.
Project, Exam & Certification
Project
To become certified as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, you must have completed two DMAIC projects in your own organisation. The project result must show improvement in a key performance measure for the organisation's strategy.
The projects should be completed within 24 months from the start of your training and conclude with the submission of a project report and a verbal defence of the task.
The report is a detailed dissertation that includes reflections on the process and the results you have achieved. In addition, you should be able to document the use of various Lean Six Sigma problem-solving tools.
Coaching
To become certified as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, you must also conduct coaching of Green Belts and Black Belts in your own organisation. You are the expert who can guide them during their training and advise them on their practical projects.
Naturally, you will also receive continuous sparring and guidance from our Lean Six Sigma coaches with extensive practical experience and insight into implementing Lean Six Sigma projects. Your coach assists you in ensuring progress in your projects and advises regarding your own coaching tasks.
You have 3-4 hours of personal coaching per DMAIC phase, where you receive targeted help for your specific issue (the hours cannot be accumulated, but must be used continuously). With this valuable support, it is easier for you to maintain the thread through the phases and create the best possible project output.
Certification
The certification is based on your completed projects and coaching tasks. The certification is an acknowledgment that you have proven your ability to convert theory into practice and create significant results. Please be aware that there is no guarantee of passing. But we will not recommend you for the examination until we believe you are ready.
Examination, presentation, and celebration
You should present the final project report to your teacher and an examiner. Your leader and project group are very welcome to participate, for certification is also a small celebration, where your and the project's results are celebrated and acknowledged. This is a milestone in your career!
